MOD Pages updated. The Government has announced the closure of MOD Llangennach. There is a model letter to be sent to the Secretary of State protesting at this decision - we urge all visitors to this site to download and send.

A very successful public meeting was held in Aberystwyth on 19th January. Full details will be posted shortly.

The HMRC pages have been updated with a submission to the Welsh Affairs Committee of Parliament. This is an important document which we hope will form part of a coherent argument to retain local HMRC offices in Wales.

HMRC pages updated with campaigning against the job cuts and office closures. We would urge all members to contact their MP & AM to protest against these draconian and unacceptable cuts.

16th November 2006

The axe has fallen on HMRC in Wales, with 1,000 jobs being lost and a devastating reduction in the departmental estate. In SW Wales, offices to close are Aberystwyth, Haverfordwest, Pembroke Dock, Llanelli, and, possibly, Bridgend. Only political pressure and campaigning has saved Carmarthen & Swansea from deeper cuts. Further details will be posted on the website next Monday, including campaigning details. All day, local reps have appeared on radio to highlight the cuts to the public.
